Abel`s Mexican Restaurant in Oklahoma City

When I am in the mood for Mexican comfort food, I can always count on Abel’s. Their great service, authentic dishes, salsas, fruit waters, fresh fruit and even tasty desserts. Abel’s really goes above and beyond for their clients and provides excellent service. The food is always fast, hot and scrumptious! I love their street tacos, I recommend you try them! I think the shrimp tacos with their (secret menu) chipotle sauce are incredible!

Hands down the most disgusting lunch I've ever had- chilli relleno came out fast- was probably setting out all day- the putrid smell after a few bites was coming from the off grey coating- the pablano was thin & tough with seeds still inside,the mushy ol hamburger filling was horrid- beans were a salt lick, bland rice- salsa was watered down tomatoes- will never ever eat here again- threw up twice- feel diarrhea coming on- no joke- the food stunk like dead grandpa's old feet

First place I had Tacos Cavillos or Street Tacos as they are now popularly called. My other favorite plate is the Guisado or Ramos plates with the red sauce. Very spicy!! Good stuff!!

Absolutely delicious meal. Staff was so helpful and friendly. Party of 16 and nothing was wrong on our order.

We met a big group of people and the restaurant had a great meeting space. The staff was friendly and took great care of us. The food was good, too. I love crispy ground beef tacos but I cannot eat a huge platter of food. These folks allowed me to order the kids platter crispy beef taco and it came with beans and rice. It was just right!

Casual and local Mexican food. Knew it would be good when we saw a group of firemen log the restaurant - usually a sign of decent food.

On Friday May 1, we got a delivery order, We ordered beef tamale dinner, a enchilada and tamale dinner, a big burrito dinner, chicken quesadilla dinner, shrimp cocktail. The dinners were literally thrown all together, the guacamole in a couple just thrown everywhere in the carton with the food. The masa on tamales was not cooked thoroughly! The shrimp cocktail was very sweet. We have eaten at Abels many times, never had a problem before. Always been a favorite but I have never seen such sloppy work, the sauce was all over the container , in the tamale dinner the beans were under the tamale, we were so disappointed! We were looking forward to dinner we had been packing!

Quality and freshness of food not what it use to be. I treated out of town family to a meal out and was very disappointed. Service was mediocre at best. Two of our plates of food looked reheated and the street tacos were dry. We use to love this place for friendly service and great food, but this was our last visit.

Tortillas tasted store made and refrigerated. Including the ones my enchiladas were made with. More likely won't return.

The Staff was great, those girls worked hard and did an excellent job. However, I'm sorry to say that the food was nasty. I ordered the Shrimp Soup, it had frozen vegetable mix. The tomato soup was thick and salty. Horrible. I am sorry but that is not good quality food. The chips n salsa were good, but that was about it.

Great prices on the menu. Very cheap $$$ in pocket but expertly crafted and homestyle meals. Outgoing, friendly, staff. Let me already looking forward to coming back again.

The food was really good and I love that it is authentic Mexican fare (not tex-mex) but the service was slow :( The menus were kind of hard to read too, very faded in some spots.

SERIOUSLY THE BEST FOOD EVER!! My husband and I are from Yukon and have tried multiple Mexican food places around the city. NOTHING compares to Abels! Food is always hot and fresh! The staff is amazing and fast! Prices are very reasonable and the restaurant is always clean.

We eat there all the time. The food is great with huge portions! Service is fast. And they have a big menu to select from. If you want real Tex Mex food at a fair price, this is it. You always get what you pay for.

The service wasnt really good we ordered a drink never got it then are order was wrong we tired to let the waitress know but she couldnt understand English so communication was difficult and there tea was awful

An unassuming good Mexican restaurant, Abel's has been around for a while and there's a reason why. They have a wide selection of TexMex dishes that are sure to please the entire family.

When I want casual, laid back and tasty, this is my neighborhood Mexican food restaurant. The food isn't TexMex, it's more Abuelo and San Marcos style. Admittedly, I do have some friends that aren't fans, finding the fare to "homely" or simple. The decor is cheesy as all get out. It's in a strip mall. Don't expect Ted's Escondido or Mama Roja and you'll be fine.

Love this place. This is where Mexicans dine, and they know quality Mexican food. Generous food portions. Very tasty. Reasonable prices. Open long hours. Family run (not a chain) and their pride in doing a superior job shows. Oh, brewed ice tea (not watered down instant). Their chips are wonderful. They are usually willing to cook up items which are not on the menu, so don't be afraid to ask your server.

I and my family frequently visit Abel's Mexican Restaurant, usually once a week. The service is excellent and we notice our friends are at other tables, too. We love the food, too!!

Ordered one of the family meals (enchiladas) and was not dissapointed! This was my first time eating Abels and I will be back. The enchiladas, rice, and beans were very good.

1st time eating there very clean and friendly and the food was delicious no more Chelinos for me.

Food wasnt bad and sizes were excellent. Wish they made the tortilla though.

Very nice Mexican restaurant the food is good the staff is very nice especially Carlos,he was an amazing server, everything tastes very good, I'd do 5 starts but beef is not very good. I recommend seafood or something else but not beef. Thank you guys

I’ve found that I’ve always enjoyed dining at Abels, in the dining room or to go orders . Reasonably priced meals !

Best meal I have had in a long time. With social distancing tables, one-time used menus, mask wearing staff was all well done. Service was great. But the tacos and beer steal the show!! Delicious!!

I always go here for ceviche but this last time way to much cilantro I lobe love cilantro, but when it over powers the shrimp and lime it's too much. The ceviche looked green from all the cilantro and that's all you could taste. First time that's happened here ever.

If you like the normal, what everyone is used to, Mexican this is the better of them. The food is good. The staff stays hook up. Sometimes more staff then needed which is why they stand around at times. I feel like if you came here lots all of the food would taste the same. But happy to have them close by when not in the mood to drive to the more authentic restaurants.

It was good and fast services. I was very pleased.

The high chair they gave me for my daughter was literally falling apart. I had to sit there and snap the sides back together constantly. The sling they gave me for my sons car seat didn't even have a strap and was ripped up along the sides. His seat fell into the sling 2 times. Queso was pretty terrible. Tasted like water flour, and a sprinkle of cheese. We were asked if we wanted tortillas to start with to which we said yes, flour please. They never brought them even after we asked a 2nd time. I had ordered fajitas and they again didn't bring any tortillas. Had to ask a 3rd time to finally get some. While we were eating we were constantly being asked how everything was, but when we were done, we sat there a solid 20 min just waiting for them to bring our check. I had to stand up and start gathering my things to look like I was leaving for someone to finally bring our check. The food I ordered was decent, but the friend I went with became sick within 15 min of leaving.

We had barbecue yesterday, Saturday time for some Mexican. With time between ball games, headed over to Abel's for lunch. Very tasty meals, with great fresh flavors. Very happy we did not go to a chain restaurant.

Abel's always provides great service and delicious food. It's my family's go to place for Mexican food. It's the best.

The food was good and authentic. Salsa was great. However, the lighting could be better. The wait wasn’t long at all.

The street tacos here are superb. I especially love getting a few pasteur tacos and a horchata aqua fresca.The staff is always friendly and attentive, and the place has a very local vibe.
